Quartzite is a natural rock, formed when sandstone was exposed to extreme pressure and heat inside the Earth, crystallizing the sand and silica into a quartzite. It is extremely hard stone, heat resistant, and requires periodic sealing (typically once a year, depending on usage). It is white or grey, while other minerals can introduce many other colors to it. The marble like look makes it a popular countertop option.
